With reference to my dispatch No. 46 of the 1st February last, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith copy of a dispatch from His Majesty’s consul-general at Hankow enclosing copy of a further letter from Mr. French Ridley respecting the movements of the Russian expedition under the direction of Colonel Kozloff.
Mr. Ridley would seem to be mistaken as to the whereabouts of Dorjieff, whose palns for the future I mentioned in my dispatch No. 578 of the 23rd December last. I need hardly point out that the views of a political nature to which he gives expression in the last paragraph of his letter are entirely his own.
